Overview of CBSE Class 11 Business Studies Syllabus 2025-26
Class 11 Business Studies covers the nature of business, forms of organisation, public and private sector enterprises, business services, emerging modes of business, social responsibility, formation of company, sources of business finance, small business and internal as well as international trade. Part A – Foundations of Business (40 marks) focuses on core ideas like nature and purpose of business, forms of organisation, business services, emerging modes and business ethics. Together, Units 1 and 2 carry 16 marks, which means students should be thorough with concepts such as business risk, industry and commerce, sole proprietorship, partnership, joint stock company and cooperative society. These topics form the base for higher-level subjects like Business Environment and Principles of Management in Class 12.
Part B – Finance and Trade (40 marks) focuses on money-related and trade-related aspects such as sources of finance, small business, internal trade and international business. Units 7 to 10 together contribute 40 marks, so students must understand concepts like share capital, debentures, retained earnings, small-scale industries, wholesale and retail trade, export-import and global trade facilitation.
