  • Biological Classification: Five Kingdom classification (Monera, Protista, Fungi, Animalia, Plantae).
  • Plant Kingdom: Algae, Bryophytes, Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms, Angiosperms.
  • Animal Kingdom: Non-chordates and Chordates (up to class level).
Unit II: Structural Organisation (10 Marks)
  • Morphology of Flowering Plants: Inflorescence, Flower, Fruit, Seed (Root/Stem/Leaf modifications are deleted in some versions, check school specifics).
  • Anatomy of Flowering Plants: Tissues (Meristematic and Permanent).
  • Structural Organisation in Animals: Morphology, anatomy, and functions of digestive, circulatory, respiratory, nervous, and reproductive systems of an insect (Frog).
Unit III: Cell Structure and Function (15 Marks)

This unit is the foundation for Class 12 Genetics.

  • Cell – The Unit of Life: Prokaryotic vs Eukaryotic cells, Cell membrane, Cell organelles (Endomembrane system, Mitochondria, Plastids, Ribosomes, Nucleus).
  • Biomolecules: Proteins, Carbohydrates, Lipids, Nucleic acids, Enzymes (Action and properties).
  • Cell Cycle and Cell Division: Mitosis and Meiosis significance.
Unit IV: Plant Physiology (12 Marks)
  • Photosynthesis in Higher Plants: Light reaction, Electron transport, C3 and C4 pathways.
  • Respiration in Plants: Glycolysis, Fermentation, TCA cycle, Electron Transport System (ETS).

Unit V: Human Physiology (18 Marks)

Note: Digestion is deleted. Focus on the following systems:

  • Breathing and Exchange of Gases: Respiratory organs, Mechanism of breathing, Gas exchange.
  • Body Fluids and Circulation: Blood, Lymph, Human Circulatory System (Heart), ECG.
  • Excretory Products and their Elimination: Urine formation, Regulation of kidney function.
  • Locomotion and Movement: Skeletal muscle contraction, Skeletal system.
  • Neural Control and Coordination: Neuron, Nerve impulse transmission, CNS.
  • Chemical Coordination and Integration: Endocrine glands and Hormones.
